Fresh Water Fish curry

- ½ kg ( 1lb ) fresh water fish
- ½ cup sliced onion
- ¾ teaspoon ground turmeric
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon ground coriander
- ¼ cup onion leaves
- 1/3 cup cooking oil
- 2 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
Scale
(if necessary) and dress the fish by trimming and pocketing. Cut into steaks or
keep the fish whole. Wash and drain water. Mix the spices in 1 cup of water.
Heat
the oil in a pan. Fry the onion until transparent. Add the spice mixture, cook
until oil separates. Stir and fry for 1 minute. Add the fish, salt and 3 cups
of water. Cover and cook over moderate heat for 10 minutes. And the green
chilies and coriander leaves. Keep over low heat for 6-8 minute.
Serve
hot with boiled rice.
