Hilsa curry

Hilsa curry
4-6 serving
  • 450 g(1lb) hilsa steaks
  • ¼ cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 2 green chilies
  • ¼ cup cooking oil
  • Salt to taste


            Making Method: Combine the ground spices, mix in ½ cup if water.

            Heat the oil and sauté the onion. Add the mixture of spices, stir and cook for 2 minutes. Add 3 cups of water, salt and the fish. Cover, bring to boil and simmer till water has been reduced. Add the chilies 8 minutes before removing from heat. This curry may be prepared with other fishes like mackerel, herring etc.

            Finally:Serve with fluffy boiled rice.
