Beef Tomato curry

- 1 kg (2 lb )beef
- 4 medium-sized tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic
- ½ cup finely chopped onion
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 3 cardamoms
- 3 sticks 2.5 cm piece cinnamon
- 2 cloves
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon paprika or chili powder
- ½ cup cooking oil
- Salt to taste
Place the meat, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf salt
and half of the oil in a pan. Mix them well. Add 3 cups of water. Cover and
cook over moderate heat until the meat is tender.

In a separate pan heat rest of the oil. Fry the onion
golden brown. Add the tomatoes and fry for a few minutes. Add the meat and
paprika, stir and fry for 10 to 15 minutes. Add 1-2 cups of water and keep
covered over low heat for 20 to 25 minutes.
Finally:Serve hot with boiled rice, pulao, chapatti
or parata.
