Hilsa oinion korma
- 450 g (1 lb) hilsa
steaks
- 2 cups thinly
sliced onion
- ½ teaspoon
ground turmeric
- 6 green chillies
cared
- 1/3 cup cooking oil
- Salt to taste
Mackerel ,herring
,throut and shad may substitute hilsa in this kurma. Rinse the fish steaks and
drain water.

Rub salt and turmeric on
the fish. Heat the oil in a pan. Sauté the onion until soft. Arrange the steaks
in the pan. Cover and cook over low heat for about 2 hours. During that time
turn the pieces of fish once and add the chillies.When oil separates out
remove from heat.
Finally: Serve with hot fluffy
boiled rice or bread.
