Lentil with tomato

  • ·         1 cup red lentils
    ·         ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
    ·         ¼ teaspoon chili powder
    ·         2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
    ·         2 green chilies, pared
    ·         2 teaspoons crushed garlic
    ·         1 tablespoon sliced onion
    ·         1 tablespoon cooking oil
    ·         3 medium-sized tomatoes
    ·         Salt to taste
Simmer lentils in 4 cups of water with turmeric, chili powder and salt for 40 minutes. Cut each tomato into 4 pieces, add to the lentils and cook till tomatoes are soft. Add coriander leaves, green chilies and bring to boil. Remove from heat.

Heat oil in a pan and fry the sliced onion and crushed garlic brown. Pour the lentils and bring to a boil.


Finally: Serve hot with boiled rice.
