Lentil with tomato

- · 1 cup red lentils· ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric· ¼ teaspoon chili powder· 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves· 2 green chilies, pared· 2 teaspoons crushed garlic· 1 tablespoon sliced onion· 1 tablespoon cooking oil· 3 medium-sized tomatoes· Salt to taste
Simmer lentils in 4 cups
of water with turmeric, chili powder and salt for 40 minutes. Cut each tomato
into 4 pieces, add to the lentils and cook till tomatoes are soft. Add
coriander leaves, green chilies and bring to boil. Remove from heat.
Heat oil in a pan and
fry the sliced onion and crushed garlic brown. Pour the lentils and bring to a
boil.
Finally: Serve hot with boiled rice.
